Job summary

Ridgeview Institute Smyrna in Smyrna, GA seeks a Referral Registered Nurse (RN) in the Access department who assesses and evaluates patient charts being considered for admission, takes physician orders, and reviews medication reconciliation with the physician.

You must be an RN licensed in Georgia with CPR certification, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, in a full-time setting.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited RN program; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a psychiatric facility is preferred.
  • Currently licensed to practice by the Georgia State Board of Nursing.
  • Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications; CPR certification required; aggressor management training within 30 days.

  • Review medical charts from referring hospitals to accept patients based on criteria, capacity, and capability.
  • Work with children, adolescents, adults, and seniors; perform assessments and interviews for each group.
  • Call physicians for admission and medication orders; collaborate on medication reconciliation with the Assessment RN.

The Referral RN in the Access department is a registered nurse who assesses and evaluates patients' charts who are being considered for admission to the hospital, takes physician orders, and reviews medication reconciliation with the physician and/or Assessment RN following the nursing process and the standards of care and practices. Must have good clinical skills and be able to work independently with minimum supervision.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Reviewing Medical charts from referring hospitals when received via fax. Accepting patients for the hospital based on criteria, capacity, and capability of RIS.
  • Responsible for working with children, adolescents, adults, and senior populations. Must be familiar with common diagnoses with these population groups and familiar with specific assessment and interviewing skills for each population group.
  • Call physician for admission and medication orders. Collaborate with the Assessment RN for Medication Reconciliation verification provided by patient/family/pharmacy.
  • Report any signs or symptoms of infection, illness, or medical instability to the physician after assessment.
Your Experience Matters What we’re looking for
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited RN program; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a psychiatric facility is preferred.
  • Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Georgia State Board of Nursing.
  • Additional Requirements: Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications. CPR certification and successful completion of Management of Aggressive Behavior including restraint and seclusion policies, within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in re-straining procedures. Must have a working knowledge of the DSM-V, Mental Status Exam, and the Addiction and Recovery field.

Compensation

This is a full-time, non-exempt role, and the expected compensation range is between $32.00 and $40.00/hour plus medical coverage for your and your family, We’re eager to engage with all qualified candidates, and consideration will be given to experience and skill level.
