Job summary

Ridgeview Institute Smyrna is seeking a Referral Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Access department. The RN will assess patient charts for admission, obtain physician orders, and review medication reconciliation under nursing standards.

Must work independently with strong clinical skills and provide care for diverse age groups. Qualified candidates have an accredited RN program background; Georgia RN license; and a CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited RN program.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Currently licensed to practice by the Georgia State Board of Nursing.
• Must pass a medication administration exam; CPR certification and Management of Aggressive Behavior training within 30 days; working knowledge of DSM-V and Addiction and Recovery field.

Responsibilities

• Review medical charts from referring hospitals received by fax and admit patients based on criteria, capacity, and RIS capabilities.
• Care for patients across children, adolescents, adults, and seniors with population-specific assessment and interviewing skills.
• Call physicians for admission and medication orders; collaborate on medication reconciliation verification with the Assessment RN.
• Report signs of infection, illness, or medical instability to the physician after assessment.

The Referral RN in the Access department is a registered nurse who assesses and evaluates patients' charts who are being considered for admission to the hospital, takes physician orders, and reviews medication reconciliation with the physician and/or Assessment RN following the nursing process and the standards of care and practices. Must have good clinical skills and be able to work independently with minimum supervision.

Primar y Responsibilities

• Reviewing Medical charts from referring hospitals when received via fax. Accepting patients for the hospital based on criteria, capacity, and capability of RIS.
• Responsible for working with children, adolescents, adults, and senior populations. Must be familiar with common diagnoses with these population groups and familiar with specific assessment and interviewing skills for each population group.
• Call physician for admission and medication orders. Collaborate with the Assessment RN for Medication Reconciliation verification provided by patient/family/pharmacy.
• Report any signs or symptoms of infection, illness, or medical instability to the physician after assessment.

Your Experience Matters What We’re Looking For

Education: Graduate from an accredited RN program; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a psychiatric facility is preferred.

Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Georgia State Board of Nursing.

Additional Requirements: Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications. CPR certification and successful completion of Management of Aggressive Behavior including restraint and seclusion policies, within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in re-straining procedures. Must have a working knowledge of the DSM-V, Mental Status Exam, and the Addiction and Recovery field.

Compensation

This is a full-time, non-exempt role, and the expected compensation range is between $32.00 and $40.00/hour plus medical coverage for your and your family, We’re eager to engage with all qualified candidates, and consideration will be given to experience and skill level.
