Registered Nurse (RN)
Full-time 3x12 hour shifts, D/N rotation
L4WD is a dynamic, fast-paced 35-bed medical-surgical unit. Our primary patient populations include thoracic, colorectal, surgical oncology, general surgery, and vascular surgery, providing a diverse and rewarding range of clinical experiences. Thoracic surgery is an important part of our practice, offering nurses opportunities to care for patients undergoing complex procedures and navigate specialized postoperative recovery pathways.
Our team cares for patients throughout their surgical journey, from immediate postoperative recovery to discharge and beyond. Nurses gain experience caring for patients undergoing colorectal procedures, new and reversed ostomies, hernia repairs, vascular surgeries and complex surgical oncology procedures, including Whipple procedures. Our thoracic population provides additional opportunities to develop specialized skills in caring for patients following esophagectomies and other complex thoracic surgeries. Nurses also gain experience with a variety of bedside procedures and interventions, including bronchoscopy, chest tube tPA/Dornase administration, and talc pleurodesis. With an average length of stay of approximately five days, our team balances efficient patient progression and discharge planning with the individualized care required for patients experiencing more complex or prolonged recoveries.
