Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health's L4WD Inpatient Surgery unit is seeking a registered nurse to care for complex surgical patients. The role supports 12-hour shifts on a 3-bed Progressive Care Unit, with part-time or full-time options depending on preference.

You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care using the nursing process, collaborate with a collaborative team, and mentor others while maintaining high standards of patient safety and evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • BSN degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement and evaluate an individualized plan of care.
  • Utilizes critical thinking and the nursing process to anticipate and recognize changes in patient status, taking action to modify the plan of care or to elevate to the care team as necessary.
  • Practices in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics to advocate for patients, uphold their autonomy in decision-making, ensure informed consent and assist patients in families in expressing self-determination.
  • Actively seeks feedback and acts to improve performance.
  • Engages in the governance of practice.
  • Mentors colleagues for the advancement of nursing practice and the profession.

Part-time 2x12 hour schedule / with Rotation

We are a 3-bed Adult Progressive Care Unit attached to a 32 bed medical surgical unit

Full or part time schedules are available depending on candidate preference.

L4WD Inpatient Surgery is a collaborative unit that cares for complex surgical patients. Home to thoracic, vascular, kidney transplant and general surgery patients (typically either laparoscopic or major abdominal procedures), the population is diverse and challenging. Our nurse-to-patient ratios are very attractive and Licensed Nursing Assistants are also part of our collaborative team.

As a member of the L4WD team you will assess, plan, organize, provide and evaluate nursing care utilizing the nursing process. In addition, you will make nursing judgments and decisions and will be responsible for nursing care and documentation. We use a shared (team/self) scheduling model to coordinate schedules which include 12-hour shifts.

  • Precepts the student nurse, nurse extern, nurse resident, experienced clinical nurse and other members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Required Licensure/Certifications
  • Licensed RN with NH eligibility
  • BLS
