Job Summary
Responsible for the management of OR implants, both biological and mechanical, instruments/equipment, required to meet the daily needs of our patients. Establishes and maintains appropriate inventory levels of both owned and consigned implants; arranges for timely delivery of loaner equipment and instruments and special orders. Works collaboratively with our scheduling and billing office, surgeons, Central Sterile Processing and Perioperative management. Documents in the tissue tracking database to assure compliance with regulatory agencies. Maintains, develops and trains users in use of the Perioperative Information system. Serves as Chargemaster Delegate for Perioperative Services.Essential Functions

Responsible for the overall operation of the Perioperative implant service(s) including billing, ordering, receiving, stocking and inventorying of all implants throughout the Prisma Health information systems. Maintains implants in the supply chain database (Opti flex) to assure availability for nurse documentation and charge capture. Coordinates any recalls or implant failures with Materials Management.
Assures product availability by maintaining appropriate inventory levels, proactively reviewing the upcoming OR schedules for routine, loaned and special-order implants. Coordinates requests for equipment, supplies and implants and makes recommendations when potential conflicts are identified. Contacts vendors and surgeons' offices as needed.
For assigned service(s), performs 100% daily audits on nursing documentation for all tissue and FDA trackable implants, when used, to assure complete and accurate entry into the tissue tracking software. Upon receipt manually enters all tissue products into the tissue tracking software. Meets regulatory agencies, JACHO, DHEC and FDA,requirements for the tracking of these products using unique device identifiers throughout their inventory distribution processes- from receipt to use on the patient. Reports compliance monthly and annually.
Serves as the Perioperative Charge Master delegate requesting inventory item numbers for all new products,determining if said items are chargeable. For billing and accounting, identifies revenue code and appropriate charge number. Must have knowledge of CMS requirements for supply HCPCS codes to assure compliance withreporting.
Serves as an expert resource for reviewing compliance of accreditation standards, departmental requirements for tissue management and reviewing policies and procedures for same. Trains users in use of the tissue tracking software as well as the Perioperative Information System to document implants and supplies appropriately.
Communicates and collaborates with the OR scheduling and billing offices, surgeons, Central SterileProcessing, vendors, Revenue Cycle, Materials and Perioperative management to meet the daily needs of ourpatients. Rounds frequently each day in the unit. Participates in daily huddle
Remains knowledgeable of the application software and other IS adopted software. Provides reports and participates in meetings as assigned.
Performs a variety of patient care activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care, Including direct patient care as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Associate degree in Nursing. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
Experience - Five (5) yearsIntraoperative Nursing Experience in the Operating Room. Ortho and Neuro experience preferred.
