Responsibilities

• The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for utilizing the nursing process to provide safe, age-appropriate, direct and indirect patient care, while practicing within the scope of practice of the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

Department Description

The Intensive Care Unit/Critical Care Unit supports patients experiencing a variety of complex and high-risk conditions and provides care through advanced knowledge and experience in a setting that offers intensive monitoring, assessments, and interventions.

Experience/Education/Qualifications

• Current unencumbered Oregon RN license required.
• Healthcare Provider Level BLS required.
• ACLS, PALS, and TNCC required within six (6) months of hire. ENPC will be accepted in lieu of PALS until January 1, 2025.
• One (1) year recent ICU experience or three (3) years of strong acute care experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Social Perceptiveness: Ability to work with a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics. Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for and/or communicating with patients and caregivers. Possesses personal sensitivity and a non-judgmental attitude towards persons of differing standards, values, lifestyles, and ages.
• Adaptability/Flexibility: Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to situations with high risk or diverse patient populations. Ability to adjust actions to offer the best possible care.
• Time Management: Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work to meet deadlines, perform multiple tasks in fast-paced environments, and handle pressure effectively.
• Communication: Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information, and discuss issues tactfully.

Physical Demands

Requires physical activities such as climbing stairs, lifting (up to 60 lbs), squatting, kneeling, sitting, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, standing, bending, manual dexterity, and others as detailed.
