Job summary

Mercy Hospital South is seeking a Neurology RN to provide direct patient care in the 8 East neurology unit. The role involves night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a 36-hour week and opportunities for new grads to apply.

You’ll collaborate with physicians and the care team to support patients with strokes, seizures, brain tumors, and brain bleeds. Qualifications include an ADN/ Diploma/ BSN, an active MO RN license (or compact state), and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri or compact state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (or within 30 days of hire).

Responsibilities

• Perform ongoing patient assessments using the nursing process.
• Coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
• Document care accurately and provide compassionate, patient-centered care.

Education

About the Unit

Neurology 8 East cares for patients with conditions such as strokes, seizures, brain tumors, and brain bleeds. Nurses gain valuable experience with complex neuro assessments, safety‑focused care, and close collaboration with neurology providers and therapy teams.

About the Role

The Neurology RN provides direct patient care using the nursing process while collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include ongoing patient assessments, care coordination, documentation, and delivering compassionate, patient‑centered care consistent with Mercy’s mission and values.

This role is ideal for nurses who enjoy clinical complexity, teamwork, and continuous skill development.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri or compact state

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Prior hospital or acute‑care nursing experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and assist up to 50 pounds
• Prolonged standing and walking
• Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat, and assist patients safely
