Job summary

OrthoNebraska is seeking an Extended Recovery RN to provide high-quality, patient-centered care for post-operative orthopedic patients needing extended recovery or overnight care. You will monitor conditions, manage pain, prevent complications, and encourage early mobility in collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, hospitalists, and nurse navigators.

This role requires adherence to safety standards and participation in department meetings and improvement activities.

Qualifications

• Provide care appropriate to the age/weight of patients served.

Position Summary

Position Summary: The Extended Recovery RN, s responsible for providing high-quality patient-centered care to post-operative orthopedic patients requiring extended recovery or overnight care. This role involves monitoring patient conditions, managing pain, preventing complications, encouraging early mobility, preparing patients for their discharge home, and ensuring a safe recovery process. The Extended Recovery nurse will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, hospitalists, nurse navigators, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and maintain safety standards.

Hours/Schedule: 0 / As Needed, 6:45p - 7:15a

Essential Job Functions

• Performs an initial and ongoing assessment to determine the assigned patient’s ongoing nursing care needs.

• Develops/reviews/revises and individualizes the plan of care to address the patient’s nursing care needs for optimum patient care outcome.

• Implements interventions consistent with the established plan of care in a safe and appropriate manner.

• Evaluates patient care to determine response to care/interventions for optimal patient outcome.

• Maintains a professional behavior in attitudes, demeanor, interactions to achieve organization’s mission.

• Initiates action to correct, prevent, and/or minimize risk(s) to the patient, family or hospital employees (i.e., falls, needle sticks, patient concerns).

• Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.

• Participate in performance improvement activities.

• Attend and participate in department meetings.

• Attend mandatory educational programs.

• Follow established guidelines as stated in hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

• Responsible for all other duties as assigned.
