Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an ER Registered Nurse for Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ. The role supports the Emergency Department with high-quality patient care across shifts and requires a NJ RN license and BLS.

The RN will perform assessments, administer medications, educate patients and families, and document in EPIC EMR. A BSN is preferred and weekend rotations are typical in a busy, collegial environment.

Qualifications

• Active NJ RN license in good standing is required.
• BSN strongly preferred.
• BLS certification required or ability to obtain quickly.
• Experience in emergency care is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is strongly preferred, as is prior patient care experience ideally emergency room nursing and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. In this role, you will work 7a - 7:30p and every other weekend and rotating holidays. The work week is 36 hours per week.
