Job summary

UT Health East Texas’s Cedar Creek Lake Emergency Room in Gun Barrel City, TX is seeking a Variable Shift, PRN Registered Nurse (RN) to join our urgent care team. You will deliver compassionate nursing care across the lifespan in a fast-paced ER setting.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, prioritize patient needs, follow physician orders, and ensure safety and quality in all care delivered.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in nursing (ADN) is required.
• Texas RN license is required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer.
• ACLS certification is required before end of orientation.
• PALS or ENPC is required before end of orientation.
• NIHSS certification is required before end of orientation.
• Preferred: CEN and TNCC credentials.

Responsibilities

• Administers care to a patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric and uses a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to ensure appropriate nursing care.
• Prioritizes patient care needs based on assessment and implements a plan of care.
• Delivers care consistent with physician orders and hospital policies.

Responsibilities

• Administers care to a patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric and utilizes a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to ensure that each patient receives nursing care appropriate to his/her illness or injury.
• Prioritizes patient care needs based on the patient assessment and uses the nursing process to implement a plan of care appropriate to each patient’s needs.
• Delivers care consistent with the physician’s orders and treatment protocols and in accordance with hospital and departmental policy.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associate's degree in nursing (ADN)
• Must maintain current Texas RN License
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required before the end of orientation
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) is required before the end of orientation
• NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification before the end of orientation

Preferred Job Requirements:

• One year of emergency nursing experience
• Two years of acute care nursing experience
• CEN
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
