Job summary

UT Health East Texas in Quitman, TX is seeking a rotating shift, PRN Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Level IV trauma center with a comprehensive range of services. You will provide bedside nursing care across age groups, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and adhere to physician orders and unit protocols.

The role requires a Texas RN license, BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and either PALS or ENPC, with NIHSS certification expected before orientation ends.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree from an accredited school
• Current Texas RN license
• BLS certification within 14 days of hire or transfer
• ACLS before end of orientation

Responsibilities

• Administers care to a patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric using a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach.
• Prioritizes patient care needs based on assessment and implements a plan of care.
• Delivers care consistent with physician orders, treatment protocols, and hospital/department policies.

• UT Health Quitman offers 25 private rooms, a 24-hour Level IV trauma center and Level III stroke center, surgical suites, advanced diagnostics, swing bed care, cardiopulmonary rehab, on-site physician clinics, and a sleep lab.

Responsibilities

• Administers care to a patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric and utilizes a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to ensure that each patient receives nursing care appropriate to his/her illness or injury.
• Prioritizes patient care need based on the patient assessment and uses the nursing process to implement a plan of care appropriate to each patient’s needs.
• Delivers care consistent with physician’s orders and treatment protocols and in accordance with hospital and departmental policy.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Degree in nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing
• Current Texas RN license
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) before end of orientation
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) before end of orientation
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) before end of orientation
• NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification before the end of orientation

Preferred Job Requirements:

• One year of emergency nursing experience
• Two years of acute care nursing experience
