Job summary

Sovah Health - Danville is seeking an Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department to work nights in person. The ED is described as a 31-bed unit with a 4:1 nurse‑to‑patient ratio, dedicated chest pain center and stroke center capabilities, and a strong focus on patient care across the lifespan.

The role emphasizes plan of care, monitoring, interdisciplinary collaboration, and ongoing education, with opportunities for professional development and advancement within a teaching hospital

Qualifications

• Current VA RN license or compact state.
• ACLS within 6 months.
• PALS or ENPC within 6 months.
• TNCC preferred.
• BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions including meds, specimens, and treatments.
• Monitors and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living.
• Coordinates transfers, discharges and referrals across disciplines.
• Provides education based on age, culture and condition.
• Advocates for patient well‑being; participates in quality improvement.

How you'll contribute

Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
• Evaluates patient and family learning needs and provides appropriate education based on age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.

What we're looking for

The right candidate will provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a registered nurse and/or physician. Provides for personal care, comfort and assists with safe, clean environment, maintains equipment and supplies. Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care activities.

Applicants should have a current VA RN license or compact state

• Bachelors degree preferred but not required

Additional requirements include:

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support required
• Experience in acute care hospital, preferred
• American Heart Association ACLS within 6 months.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association OR Emergency Nurse Association (ENPC) within 6 months.
• Trauma Nurse Certification Course (TNCC) Emergency Nurse Association, preferred)

Hourly range - $33.19 - $44.81 per hour
