Job summary

Sovah Danville, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Operating Room to provide perioperative care in a 10‑room suite across Orthopedics, General Surgery, OB/GYN, Urology, ENT, Spine and Pulmonary, utilizing advanced robotics.

Minimum requirements include an active RN license (VA or compact), an Associate degree in nursing, and BLS; a Bachelor's is preferred. Join a team with 15+ years of experience and a strong mentorship culture.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Virginia or a compact state.
• Associate degree in nursing required; Bachelor's preferred.
• Basic Life Support certification required.
• Clinical experience in perioperative nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions including medication administration and perioperative care.
• Documents patient care and communicates condition to team and family.
• Prepares, positions and transports patients for procedures and manages sterile field.
• Assesses and cares for patients throughout perioperative process and ensures safety.
• Collaborates across disciplines for transfers, discharges and psychosocial support.
• Provides education to patient and family throughout perioperative care.

Our 10-room surgical suite supports a wide range of specialties with 17 surgeons utilizing block time. Nurses have the opportunity to circulate and assist in procedures across:

• Orthopedics
• General Surgery
• OB/GYN
• Urology
• ENT
• Spine
• Pulmonary

We are proud to utilize advanced technology, including Mako and da Vinci robotic systems, reflecting our commitment to best practices and a patient-first approach.

With many nurses on the unit having 15+ years of experience, mentorship and hands-on training are readily available. Our strong multidisciplinary teamwork sets us apart, with a shared goal of delivering safe, high-quality, compassionate care close to home.

How You Will Contribute

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Prepares, positions, and transports patients for procedures.
• Prepares surgical and endoscopy suites with solutions, scopes, equipment, and supplies. Validates proper reprocessing of scopes for every procedure.
• Assesses and cares for patients throughout the perioperative process, including pre-procedure and post-procedure care.
• Operates specialized equipment and maintains a safe environment.
• Accounts for use of supplies during surgical/endoscopy procedures.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
• Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances throughout the perioperative process.
• Assists patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What We Are Looking For

The right person who will provide direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Applicants should have a current RN VA or compact state license and possess an associate's degree in nursing.

Hourly range: $31.49 - $42.51 per hour
