Fairview Health Services is seeking an ED Registered Nurse for the Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN. You will assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate emergency nursing care for a diverse patient population in a busy Level 3 Trauma ED.

Schedule includes 48-72 hours per pay period with multiple FTE options for 8- or 12-hour night shifts, including weekends. Orientation includes ACLS/TNCC/ENPC timelines and ongoing professional practice guidelines adherence.

Job Overview

Fairview is looking for an upbeat and energetic Registered Nurse for our Emergency Department at Fairview Ridges Hospital located in Burnsville, MN. The hospital is just 20 minutes south of Minneapolis, MN near the 35E and 35 W conjunctions! It has been providing state-of-the-art care and community services to the residents of the scenic Minnesota Valley since 1984.

Our ED is a Level 3 Trauma Center. We have 45 beds and a yearly census of approximately 67,000 and growing! Team members include Board Certified Emergency Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Registered Nurses, ER Techs, Health Unit Coordinators, transport, mental health associates and Case Managers. Emergency Department Registered Nurses provide emergency nursing care for a diversified population of all age distributions (infant to geriatrics) and all problem types in a very lively Emergency Room.

The Fairview Ridges ER processes 72,000 cases per year, with an average of 203 patients seen daily. The position duties include assessment, care planning, interventions, and instructing. New positions added due to volumes/growth.

The patient population served by the Emergency Department consists of newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients requiring or seeking medical care. Twenty percent of our ED volume is pediatric.

Schedule

This position is 48-72 hours per pay period, we currently have .6, .75, and .9 FTE night openings available, including both 8-hour and 12-hour shift options. 12-hour night shifts are every third weekend, while 8-hour night shifts are every other weekend. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

• Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
• Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
• Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
• Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
• Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)

Required Qualifications

• MN RN Licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers
• Completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Healthcare Providers required by the end of orientation.
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 1 year of hire
• 1 year of RN Emergency Department, pediatric/adult critical care, or telemetry nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher
• Certification by the board of Certification for Emergency Nursing as a CEN, and/or course in advanced trauma nursing (ATCN)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) through Health Care Providers
• ED Charge Nurse experience
