Job summary

Hartford Hospital, a leading teaching hospital, seeks an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for Bliss 10i in the Heart and Vascular Institute. This twelve-bed unit cares for patients with myocardial infarctions, cardiogenic shock, heart failure, and post-arrest, using advanced monitoring and devices.

Qualifications

• Connecticut RN license current and in good standing.
• BSN from an accredited nursing program is required or equivalent.
• BLS and ACLS certification; Arrhythmia Certification required before date of hire.
• Minimum one year Telemetry experience is strongly preferred.
• Prior Cardiology, Critical Care and/or Progressive Care experience is preferred.
• In exceptional circumstances, ASN/ADN may be considered for employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside nursing care to critically ill cardiac ICU patients.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry, administer medications and therapies as prescribed.
• Collaborate with cardiology, cath lab, electrophysiology, and surgical teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Ensure patient safety, comfort, and family communication upholding Hartford Healthcare values.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with unit protocols.

This is a posting for Bliss 10i, a twelve-bed unit within Hartford HealthCare's Heart and Vascular Institute, the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit's population primarily consists of patients with myocardial infarctions, cardiogenic shock, advanced heart failure, and post-cardiac arrest. Registered Nurses (RNs) are trained in the use of specialized equipment to monitor and treat these patient populations. Some of these are: transvenous pacemakers, intra-aortic balloon pumps, temporary ventricular assist devices, pulmonary artery catheters, and targeted temperature management. The unit works closely with the Cardiac Catherization lab, Electrophysiology department, and the Cardiovascular Surgical Team.

Qualifications

• Current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required).
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association, ACLS certification, and proof of Arrhythmia Certification required prior to date of hire.
• Minimum one year Telemetry experience strongly preferred.
• Previous Cardiology, Critical Care and/or Progressive Care experience preferred.
• In exceptional circumstances, candidates with an ASN/ADN may be considered for employment.
