Job summary

A-Line Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Burn Center at a Department of Defense medical facility in San Antonio, TX. This on-site role supports a fast-paced, high-acuity environment in a Level I trauma center, with 12-month base contract and options.

Shifts are 12 hours, rotating days and nights. Applicants must have an active RN license, ADN or higher from an ACEN/CCNE-accredited program, BLS, ACLS/ALS, and telemetRY experience.

Qualifications

  • RN license in the U.S. with an ACEN/CCNE-accredited ADN or higher nursing degree.
  • BLS and ACLS/ALS certifications required.
  • At least 1 year RN experience in Adult Med-Surgical Telemetry or equivalent.
  • Ability to complete federal credentialing, background/security checks, and onboarding.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to inpatient burn and high-acuity patients.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor condition changes.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered within RN scope.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to DoD, DHA, facility, Joint Commission, and safety standards.

Registered Nurse (RN) – Burn Center (BICU/BPCU) Location:San Antonio, TX Work Setting:On-site Federal Medical Center – Burn Center Pay:$48-50 per hour Contract:12-month base contract with3 additional option periods Start Date:October1,2026 (or later depending on clearance) Schedule:12-hour rotating shifts – Days & Nights Shift Hours:6:45 AM–7:15 PM or 6:45 PM–7:15 AM Hours:Up to 40 hours per week Burn Experience NOT Required We are seeking experiencedRegistered Nurses (RNs)to provide professional nursing services within a high-acuity Burn Center at a major Department of Defense medical facility in San Antonio. Previous Burn Center/Burn ICU experience is NOT required. Candidates with strongAdult Medical-Surgical Telemetry or equivalent acute-care nursing experienceare encouraged to apply. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Med-Surg/Telemetry RNs to expand their clinical skills into specialized burn care. The facility is the Department of Defense's largest inpatient hospital and only Level I Trauma Center, providing care in a fast-paced environment alongside military, civilian, and contract healthcare professionals.

What You'll Do
  • Provide direct nursing care to inpatient burn and high-acuity patients
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor for changes in condition
  • Provide care within your RN scope of practice and established facility policies
  • Monitor and respond appropriately to telemetry patients
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Follow Department of Defense, Defense Health Agency, facility, Joint Commission, and patient-safety standards
  • Participate in required facility and government training
  • Support continuity of care and safely complete patient-care responsibilities
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and professional standards
  • Follow infection prevention and occupational-health requirements
Minimum Qualifications – Required Candidates must meet all of the following requirements:
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Current, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license from any U.S. state, District of Columbia, U.S. territory, or U.S. jurisdiction
  • Minimum Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Nursing degree must be from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
  • Ability to provide an official nursing school transcript for federal credentialing
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS or ALS certification
  • At least 1 full year of RN experience in an Adult Medical-Surgical Telemetry Unit or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of full-time clinical nursing experience within the last 4 years
  • Strong knowledge and experience with telemetry monitoring
  • Ability to successfully complete all required federal credentialing, background/security, occupational-health, and onboarding requirements
Education & Licensure

ADN or higher nursing degree required Nursing program must beACEN or CCNE accredited Education substitutions or equivalency determinations are not permitted Active, unrestricted RN licensure may be held in any U.S. jurisdiction

Required Certifications
  • BLS – Basic Life Support
  • ACLS or ALS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support/Advanced Life Support ACLS/ALS is specifically required for healthcare workers assigned to the Burn Center
Schedule & Availability
  • This is a24/7 inpatient operationrequiring rotating 12-hour shifts.
  • Day Shift:6:45 AM–7:15 PM
  • Night Shift:6:45 PM–7:15 AM Sunday through Saturday coverage
  • Day and night shift availability required
  • Weekend coverage may be required
  • Federal holiday coverage may be required
  • Government-established schedules may change based on patient-care and mission requirements Up to approximately40 hours per week Candidates must be comfortable with arotating schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, and federal holidays.
Federal Credentialing & Security Requirements

This position is part of a federal healthcare contract and requires successful completion of the federal credentialing and onboarding process. Selected candidates must complete requirements that may include:

  • Federal background/security screening Active Tier 1 (T1) investigation prior to beginning services
  • Primary-source verification of RN license Verification of nursing education Official nursing school transcripts Verification of BLS and ACLS/ALS certifications Complete credentialing documentation Occupational-health clearance Required federal and facility onboarding Candidates must be able to successfully pass and maintain the required federal security status throughout the assignment.
  • Occupational Health Requirements Before beginning the assignment, candidates must satisfy applicable occupational-health requirements, which may include: Pre-employment physical examination TB screening Required immunization documentation Annual influenza vaccination Other applicable occupational-health requirements Health and immunization compliance is a condition of placement.
  • Physical Requirements Candidates must be physically capable of independently performing essential nursing duties, including: Standing and walking for extended periods Frequent bending and movement Lifting approximately25–50 pounds independently Assisting with patient repositioning and transfers Performing effective cardiac compressions during emergencies The work environment may involve exposure to infectious diseases and certain medical imaging/radiation environments.

  • Government-issued scrubs will be provided
  • Emergency/Mission Essential position 24/7 healthcare environment Weekend, night, and federal holiday coverage may be required
