Job summary

Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, MA, invites an experienced RN to join the Birth Center's 12-bed LDRP unit. The per diem role supports mothers and newborns, with 24/7 obstetrics and anesthesia coverage and a patient-centered, Baby Friendly environment.

MA RN license required with BLS and NRP; OB/LDRP experience preferred; BSN preferred. Per diem staff enjoy tuition reimbursement, career development, and on-site parking while serving communities across Merrimack Valley.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Massachusetts RN licensure (or eligibility).
• BLS Certification and NRP required within six weeks of hire.
• OB/LDRP experience strongly preferred.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advocates for patients and families to ensure positive patient care outcomes.
• Documents changes and response to interventions and plan of care.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, peers, and the healthcare team.
• Involves patient, family, and caregivers in all aspects of care.
• Cares for patients through triage, labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care.
• Attends deliveries when appropriate.
• Implements stabilization per NRP guidelines.
• Responds to crises professionally and provides post-discharge resources.

STAFF RN PER DIEM Job Description: The Birth Center at Anna Jaques Hospital is a 12 bed, LDRP unit serving Newburyport and the surrounding Merrimack Valley. We offer private patient rooms with state of the art technology, working closely with all disciplines and including our relationship with Beth Israel Lahey Health. We have 24/7 obstetrics and anesthesia coverage with a nursing staff of 45. We are a Baby Friendly Designated hospital with a strong focus on patient experience. The Birth Center Nurse supports the care of mothers and newborns. OB experience strongly preferred. Current Massachusetts Nursing Licensure required, with BSN prepared nurses preferred. Current BLS and NRP required within six-weeks of hire.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Advocates for patients and families to ensure positive patient care outcomes.
• Documents all changes as well as relevant information regarding patient’s response to intervention, therapeutic regimens, and patient progress as it relates to plan of care and patient’s response to teaching.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families' peers and other members of the healthcare team.
• Includes patient, family, and caregivers in all aspects of care while ensuring that all explanations are understandable.
• Cares for patients throughout the following phases of care: triage, labor, delivery, recovery, circulate and cesarean sections, postpartum and well newborn care.
• Attends deliveries when appropriate.
• Implements stabilization process according to NRP guidelines.
• Responds effectively and professionally in a crisis situation.
• Provides resources to assist patients and families with post-discharge needs.

Education Required:

Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Licenses, Registrations, Certifications Required:

State of Massachusetts RN licensure (or eligibility) BLS Certification NRP Experience: 2 years of LDRP experience strongly preferred

Licenses, Registrations, Certifications Preferred:

BSN

Per diem status: Candidates able to provide level 2-3 commitment will be preferred.

Pay Range: $36.93 - $80.96

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
