Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our intake review team. The role focuses on reviewing referrals, assessing patient needs, and determining eligibility for admission with speed and clinical judgement.

This fast-paced setting requires sharp observation and timely decision-making. Eligibility includes NC RN license, Bachelors preferred, BLS and Handle With Care certifications, plus at least one year in psych or intake.

Qualifications

• Must have current NC RN license and be eligible to practice in NC.
• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire; Handle With Care within 30 days; psych or intake experience valued.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation from referrals and accept patients.
• Perform patient assessments and identify needs in a timely manner.
• Initiate appropriate nursing interventions based on condition and age.
• Document medical necessity accurately in the medical record.
• Complete and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Conduct timely and accurate QI assessments.

The primary responsibility is to review clinical documentation from referrals and accept patients.

This is fast paced environment where ability to gather information and make a determination in less than 15 minutes is standard.

How You'll Contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What We Are Looking For

License: Current Registered Nurse to practice/work in the state of NC

Additional Requirements Include

Bachelors degree preferred but not required

• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire
• Handle With Care certification is required within 30 days of hire
• One (1) Year of Psych experience required
• One (1) year of Intake experience preferred but not required

Active North Carolina RN license (single-state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins
