Job summary

Jefferson Regional Specialty Hospital, proudly operated with Lifepoint Health, seeks a Behavioral Health RN for the night shift. You will deliver high‑quality inpatient care on a 36‑bed unit, coordinating with psychiatric TECs and on‑call providers while ensuring patient safety and adherence to standards.

Requires RN licensure, associate degree (BSN preferred), BLS, and strong critical thinking. Night shift duties include leadership and crisis response as needed, with a sign‑on bonus for

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required.
• BSN preferred.
• Must be a licensed Registered Nurse.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Ability to think critically, make decisive judgments, and work with minimal supervision.
• Previous Behavioral Health experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process per scope and standards.
• Administer medications, collect specimens, and perform clinical treatments.
• Document care provided and monitor patient condition.
• Communicate patient status to care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assist with activities of daily living and support routine care.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary team for transfers, discharges, and psychosocial needs.
• Educate patients and families about conditions and care plans.
• Advocate for the patient’s physical and emotional well-being.

More About Our Team

Our 36-bed behavioral health unit offers a continuum of inpatient and outpatient behavioral health. On our team you will serve as the psychiatric nurse for an adult inpatient unit on night shift, providing clinical leadership and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care in a high-acuity setting. Oversee and support psychiatric technicians, coordinating unit activities, monitoring patient safety, and responding to crises or behavioral escalations as needed. Act as the clinical decision-maker overnight, collaborating with on-call providers and maintaining compliance with policies, standards, and continuity of care.

How You'll Contribute

• Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What We're Looking For
