Job summary

Canyon Vista Medical Center in Sierra Vista, AZ is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for Behavioral Health on full-time nights. The role involves direct patient care, implementing the nursing process, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic behavioral health unit.

The position requires AZ or Compact RN licensure, an Associate's Degree in Nursing, and BCLS certification. A sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 is offered with 2+ years of experience; prior BH experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Current Arizona or Compact RN license.
• Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's/Master's preferred.
• BCLS certification required.
• Handle with Care certification preferred.
• One year of nursing experience preferred in behavioral health is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care in Behavioral Health using the nursing process.
• Document care accurately and timely.
• Monitor patient status and communicate changes to the care team.
• Assist with activities of daily living as needed.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, therapeutic environment.
• Provide patient and family education tailored to age and culture.
• Participate in performance improvement and continuing education.

As a registered nurse, you will be responsible for delivery of patient care in the Behavioral Health Department through the nursing process of interview, assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and triage.

The RN provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice for behavioral health patients. Collaborates with the interprofessional team to support a safe, therapeutic environment and high-quality outcomes. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.

How You'll Contribute

Essential Functions

• Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs).
• Assesses learning needs and delivers age-/culture-appropriate patient and family education.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Participates in unit and organizational performance improvement and required continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may be assigned on-call.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current Arizona or compact state RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor's or Master's Degree preferred.
• Must have an active Arizona or Compact RN License.
• BCLS required.
• Handle with Care certification is preferred.
• One year of experience preferred.
