Overview

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment managed by Nurse Managers and supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

Facility: Kennestone Hospital

Shift: Full-time Nights 7p-7a

The RN Clinical Nurse is expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold nursing practice as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, the individual must uphold the voice of the patient, adhere to system policies and procedures, and support service excellence goals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence-based practice, critical thinking, and individualized care; coordinate care through effective partnerships, recognizing caring as central to optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care tailored to population-specific characteristics (age, gender, disease, etc.), reflecting cultural diversity.
  • Partner with patients and significant others through methods such as bedside reports, rounds, patient teaching, and goal-focused care planning.
  • Practice according to current clinical standards.
  • Coordinate and document safe, quality care, promoting respectful and inclusive interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration, practicing responsibly and promoting staff recruitment and retention.
  • Participate in performance improvement, research, and shared governance activities to promote safe, quality care.
  • Complete professional competencies, serve as preceptor/mentor, and support workforce development.
  • Promote evidence-based practice, research, and performance improvement activities, including data collection and clinical question formulation.
  • Plan proactively for patient care across the continuum, develop protocols, and support resource efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, comply with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Minimum Experience: Less than 1 year or completion of accredited nursing program with clinical hours; experience preferred.

Skills & Certifications: Valid RN license (single state and multi-state compact), BLS, BLS Instructor, BLS Provisional required.
