As an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) healthcare team, the Registered Professional Nurse (RN) upholds the YNHHS mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives to provide the highest level of patient-centered care. The RN practices professional nursing within the legal and ethical frameworks established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The role emphasizes leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

1. Standards of Practice: Utilize nursing process components such as assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver competent nursing care.
2. Standards of Professional Performance: Practice ethically, promote cultural diversity, communicate effectively, collaborate with stakeholders, demonstrate leadership, seek ongoing education, and utilize evidence-based practices.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification required within one month of hire.
• Experience: All RNs encouraged to advance through the SPIRE program. Specific experience in acute care or oncology is preferred.
• Licensure: Valid RN license in Connecticut. Specialty certification encouraged.
• Physical Demands: Prolonged standing, walking, exposure to infectious diseases, physical and emotional stress, lifting up to 300 pounds, and physical assistance for patient movement.

Additional Information
