Job summary

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) in Staten Island, NY to administer chemotherapy and supportive care, monitor patients, and collaborate with oncologists.

The role requires a NYS RN license, BLS, strong assessment/communication skills, and EMR proficiency is a plus. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and travel to NYCBS locations as needed. Competitive hourly pay and comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State RN license.
• BLS certification required.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• EMR proficiency preferred.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching.
• Knowledge of standard precautions and PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Reliable transportation to NYCBS locations for patient care needs.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents, and supportive care meds as prescribed.
• Recognize and treat cancer-related and treatment-related issues.
• Monitor and chart vital signs, document in MAR.
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals.
• Participate in cancer research trials, administering medications per protocol.
• Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness.
• Educate patients and caregivers about treatment expectations.
• Monitor patient status during administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive meds.
• Chart patient response to treatment and medication.
• Educate patients and caregivers about follow-up care and emergency services.

Job Description:

Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Staten Island, NY

Hours/Days: 4/10 hr shifts, Mon-Thurs 7:30am-6pm Organization: New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)

In This Role, You Will:

• Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents, as well as supportive care medications as prescribed by a physician

• Recognize and treat cancer-related and treatment-related issues.

• Monitor and chart vital signs, document in the medication administration record

• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge

• Participate in cancer research trials, administering medications per protocol

• Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness

• Teach patients and caregivers families regarding treatment expectations.

• Monitor patient status during the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive medications.

• Chart the patient’s response to treatment and medication.

• Educate patients and caregivers about follow up care and emergency services

We Require:

• Valid New York State RN License

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.

• Proficiency with an EMR (preferred)

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching

• Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

• Reliable transportation to travel to NYCBS locations for patient care needs
