Job summary

Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Emergency Department team in South Carolina. You will provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care, assess patients, respond to changes, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe outcomes.

Minimum one year of RN experience is required; BSN is preferred. A SC or compact-state RN license and BLS certification are required, with ACLS/PALS/NIHSS as needed.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum of one year of Registered Nurse experience.
  • Current RN license in SC or a compact state.
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
  • BSN preferred; ACLS/PALS may be required depending on assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care to patients throughout the Emergency Department.
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to changes in patient condition.
  • Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with organizational and professional standards.
  • Support a culture of teamwork, safety, compassion, and patient advocacy.
  • Participate in emergency and critical-care interventions appropriate to the patient's needs.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

Additional Job Description
Education & Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum of one year of Registered Nurse experience required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Licensure & Certifications
  • Current Registered Nurse license through the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
  • Depending on assignment and position requirements, additional certifications may include:
    • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
    • Crisis Prevention Training
