Job summary

Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck, NY is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse for evening shifts (3pm to 11:15 pm). The role involves planning and delivering nursing care, reviewing resident progress, and administering medications in accordance with DOH regulations.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, implements, coordinates, and evaluates nursing care for a specific unit during the shift.
• Receives shift report and ensures all pertinent resident information is conveyed.
• Evaluates resident behavior, symptoms, reactions and progress; discusses findings with Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse.
• Administers and documents medications per policies and procedures, physician orders, and DOH regulations.
• Discusses need to discontinue or change medications with Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse.
• Orders prescribed medications and notifies the pharmacy of changes; ensures accuracy of meds and dosages.

Job Description

Responsibilities: A Registered Nurse who, under the direction of the nursing leadership, is responsible for planning, directing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating nursing care for a specific unit during her/his shift.

• Receives report from previous shift, making sure that he/she has received all pertinent information on each resident.
• Continuously evaluates behavior, symptoms, reactions and progress of residents and discusses findings with Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse.
• Administers and documents all medications according to established policies and procedures, physician's orders and Department of Health regulations.
• Performs all treatments according to physician's specific order and established policies and procedures.
• Discusses the need to discontinue or change a medication of treatment with the Nurse Manager/ Charge Nurse.
• Orders prescribed medications, notifies pharmacy of discontinued medications: and ensures accuracy of medications and dosages when received from pharmacy.
