Job summary

Responsibilities

• Attend sick calls with physicians to see residents and prepare the exam area.
• Call physicians for medication orders and emergencies as needed.
• Administer medications and document treatment accurately.
• Assess residents with illnesses or injuries and refer to ER when required.
• Maintain clean work area and proper sanitation practices.
• Support cost containment and utilization of patient care resources.
• Ensure confidentiality of all medical records per HIPAA rules.
• Review medical files to ensure complete and accurate documentation.

Essential Duties

• Attend sick calls with physicians to see residents, preparing examining room and equipment.
• Call the physician for medication and treatment orders and other emergencies.
• Administer medication and accurately and completely document treatment as required by applicable policies and procedures.
• Examine and assess residents with illnesses or injuries or residents who become ill or injured; confer with physician to refer residents to the emergency room as required by their condition and document in medical record or other forms as appropriate.
• Maintain clean work area; use or direct the use of appropriate sanitation methods.
• Practice basic cost containment and utilization management for patient care and facility operations.
• Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records; observe applicable HIPAA rules.
• Review medical files to determine all provided services are documented accurately and completely.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED).
• Degree in nursing and current valid nursing license in the state of Ohio required.
• Must work within Ohio State Board of Nursing Scope of Practice.
• Must possess current CPR certification.
• A valid driver’s license in the state of Ohio with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
• Must successfully complete all annual in-service requirements.
