Job summary

Saint Joseph Health System is seeking a registered nurse for the Step-Down Unit (SDU) on the day shift in Mishawaka, IN. Join a multidisciplinary team and advance your clinical skills in a high-acuity setting. Eligible for a sign-on bonus and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Implement, direct, communicate, and document the nursing process per established standards of care and Indiana Nurse Practice Act.
• Provide patient advocacy and maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality, coordinated care and educate patients and families.

Our PCU bridges the gap between ICU and general care. You'll care for complex patients, build advanced clinical skills, and work side-by-side with an incredible multidisciplinary team dedicated to support, safety, and excellence.

What You'll Do:

• Care for patients with higher acuity needs including cardiac drips, post-op recovery, telemetry, respiratory support, and more

• Monitor, assess, and respond to patient conditions in real-time

• Collaborate with providers, therapists, pharmacists, and fellow nurses to deliver coordinated care

• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, discharge instructions, and health promotion

• Document assessments, medications, and interventions in our EHR system with accuracy and timeliness
