Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assess patients, obtain histories and vital signs, and document findings in the EHR
• Provide nursing care per clinical guidelines and standards
• Administer medications and provider-ordered treatments
• Start IVs and monitor IV fluids and patient responses
• Educate patients and families on medications, insulin, inhaler use, and chronic condition management
• Complete refills, prior authorizations, forms, and electronic orders
• Monitor quality measures related to acute and chronic patient care
• Respond to urgent walk-in concerns (chest pain, fainting, hypoglycemia)
• Participate in emergency response procedures as needed
• Support Medical Assistants and assist with patient flow during busy periods
• Delegate clinical responsibilities per North Carolina Nurse Practice Act
• Evaluate triage calls and determine care level/urgency
• Schedule patients with providers or direct to urgent care when appropriate
• Refer high-risk patients to ED or arrange emergency transport
• Provide approved home-care guidance when emergency treatment is not required
