Job summary

Ascension’s Cedar Park Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Preadmissions Testing department in Cedar Park, TX. The role is a daytime, full-time position (40 hours/week) with no on-call or weekend requirements.

In this role, you will review medical histories, provide preoperative counseling, coordinate testing and physician consultations, and support smooth surgical timing and discharge planning to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire date.
• RN license issued by Texas Board of Nursing before hire date.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program or equivalent licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive preoperative medical history reviews and health assessments to optimize patients for safe surgical outcomes.
• Provide pre-operative counseling to patients and families explaining procedures, preparation protocols, and recovery plans.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams by initiating physician consultations and ordering essential diagnostic tests.
• Manage surgical timing, discharge planning, and inpatient logistics to improve unit efficiency and patient satisfaction.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Perform comprehensive medical history reviews and in-depth health assessments to identify clinical anomalies, ensuring every patient is medically optimized for a safe surgical outcome.
• Empower patients and families through specialized pre-operative counseling, ensuring a thorough understanding of surgical procedures, preparation protocols, and post-operative recovery plans.
• Act as a critical liaison between multidisciplinary teams by initiating physician consultations and ordering essential diagnostic testing to streamline the surgical pipeline.
• Facilitate seamless transitions by managing surgical timing, discharge logistics, and inpatient planning to maximize unit efficiency and patient satisfaction.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR professional licensure at time of hire required.

• 3+ years Preadmissions Testing and/or floor RN experience
