With a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center ranked top 5 nationally, City of Hope's integrated model spans cancer care, research, education, and philanthropy. Its growing system includes the Los Angeles campus, clinical care locations across Southern California, a new cancer center in Orange County, and facilities in Atlanta, Chicago, and Phoenix.

Responsibilities

  • Work schedule: M-F, with shifts on Monday 5:30 am - 2:00 pm, and Tuesday to Friday 5:30 am - 1:00 pm.
  • Perform ultrasound-guided IV insertions and phlebotomy.
  • Administer chemotherapeutic agents and medications, demonstrating knowledge of their use.
  • Assess and recognize normal and abnormal responses to treatments; institute appropriate interventions.
  • Assess and intervene in life-threatening situations.
  • Develop individualized care plans using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Guide nursing practice independently and evaluate patient-specific outcomes.
  • Inspire clinical excellence through effective delegation and independent judgment.
  • Use effective communication to promote a caring and healing environment, focusing on patients and families.
  • Address physical, spiritual, emotional, and educational needs of patients; coordinate care with the healthcare team.
  • Comply with enterprise policies, procedures, and the Nurse Practice Act of Illinois, aligning with the nursing mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of nursing experience.
  • Graduate of an NLNAC or CCNE-accredited School of Nursing; licensed in Illinois.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Completion of ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration Course within 6-12 weeks of hire.
