Job summary

BayCare Health System in Tampa Bay seeks a Registered Nurse for the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care unit. The role is hospital-based and requires independent patient care using nursing processes and clinical standards.

You will monitor patients, document assessments, respond to emergencies, and coordinate discharge planning while maintaining professional accountability and ongoing development.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license is required.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications required.
• 2+ years RN Acute Care experience in Peds ICU or Peds Cardiac ICU.
• Associates Degree in Nursing required.

Responsibilities

• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care.
• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
• Identify sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition.
• Respond to medical emergencies for critical patients.
• Coordinate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge.
• Demonstrate high emotional intelligence to improve patient care experience.

The Registered Nurse in Pediatric Critical Care works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of pediatric cardiac ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards. Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team. The Registered Nurse in Pediatric Cardiac ICU is also responsible for professional accountability and development.

• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care
• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients
• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient

Requirements
