Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Registered Nurse with at least one year of RN experience to join the Pediatric Emergency Department at IU Health North. You will collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and child life specialists to provide excellent, compassionate pediatric care in a busy 8-bed unit.

The unit offers Magnet recognition, strong leadership, and growth opportunities through shared governance and evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

• Requires ASN; BSN preferred.
• Active Indiana RN license or NLC license.
• BLS certification.
• Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit policies.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and child life specialists to provide patient care.
• Deliver compassionate care in the pediatric emergency setting.
• Participate in a Magnet-enabled environment focused on evidence-based practice and teamwork.

The Pediatric Emergency Department at IU Health North hospital treats a variety of patients including those with neurological, cardiac, respiratory, orthopedic, endocrine, urinary, gastrointestinal, and integumentary complaints. A registered nurse in the Peds ED will collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and child life specialists to provide excellent, compassionate care to our patients.

• Strong clinical judgment and independence in a small, high‑responsibility 8‑bed unit

Qualifications

• Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
