The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.

Responsibilities

Detailed responsibilities are described in the role summary and align with standard nursing processes including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation; collaboration with the multidisciplinary team; teaching and mentoring; and contributing to patient care along the care continuum.

Qualifications
  • Requires an ASN; BSN is preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they have more than two years of acute care experience, subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
