Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii seeks a Registered Nurse for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). This is a full-time civilian contractor role via CentralCare Incorporated.

Requirements: Associates Degree of Nursing (or higher), current RN license in any U.S. state, at least 1 year PICU experience, and BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications. Schedule includes 24/7 coverage with 8/10/12-hour shifts, day and night rotation.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree of Nursing (or higher) from ACEN/CCNE-accredited program.
  • Minimum 1 year of PICU nursing experience in the last 2 years.
  • Current, full, active RN license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications are required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced cardiopulmonary care and medications as guided by physicians.
  • Administer ventilation support and monitor patient response.
  • Assist with complex procedures (cardioversion, central lines, intubation).
  • Operate and monitor hemodynamic devices and critical care equipment.
  • Teach patients and families about medications, health maintenance and warning signs.

We’re Hiring: Registered Nurse- Pediatric Intensive Care - PICU

Location: TRIPLER ARMY MEDICAL CENTER HONOLULU, HAWAII

Schedule: 24 hours/7 days a week unit; 8/10/12 hour shifts, rotating day/night shifts (schedule/hours vary) Onbase

The Department shall establish a schedule for contract personnel to perform services on various shifts, which range from (8-12) hours.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $71.05 hour — Base Rate

  • $5.09 hour — Health & Welfare (H&W)

  • 80 Hours PTO — accrued annually based on wage determination

  • 56 Hours Sick Leave — accrued annually

  • 11 Paid Federal Holidays

Required Qualification:
  • Degree/Education: Associates Degree of Nursing (or higher). Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN),the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Equivalency Determination Request: The Contractor may not request an equivalency determination as a substitute for education requirements on this labor category.
  • Experience: All RNs shall have a minimum of one (1) year of experience in the last two (2) years after graduation, working as a Pediatric ICU RN.
  • Licensure: Must possess a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse from any state or territory in the United States.
  • Certifications: Must hold current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Job Responsibilities:
  • Able to perform advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation, mixing and administering special, potent and potentially lethal drugs (i.e. Atropine, dopamine, dobutamine) based on weight.
  • Perform various pulmonary ventilation treatments such as administration of oxygen through various invasive and noninvasive means.
  • Assist physician with complex and potentially life-threatening procedures as cardioversion, insertion of central lines and intubation.
  • Operate and monitor highly complex technical equipment such as hemodynamic monitoring devices, ventilators, oxygen monitors etc.
  • Provide patient and family teaching and counseling to possible reactions to medications, health maintenance and illness prevention.
  • Manage nursing care of the patient on multiple medications and technical equipment, complete thorough assessments and determine abnormalities, make decisions and take corrective action immediately.
  • Possesses the knowledge of a wide range of nursing care principles, practices and procedures required to perform highly specialized nursing assignments to assess the needs of the critically ill infant, child, adolescent and teenage patient.
  • May be required to work in the Pediatric Ward, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or Mother Baby Unit (infants only) or serve as a Patient Safety Attendant for Pediatric or Adult patients.
