Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for a pediatric unit in Arizona. The RN will provide comprehensive care from birth through late teens, develop and revise patient care plans, coordinate with the care team, and focus on discharge planning and family education to improve outcomes.

The ideal candidate has an active RN license, BLS certification, and pediatric acute care experience, with a preference for a BSN and professional certification.

Qualifications

• Must possess current RN license in practicing state
• BLS certification required
• Pediatric nursing experience preferred
• Acute care hospital experience, esp. in pediatrics within past year
• Bachelor's degree preferred; professional certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide medical care to pediatric patients from birth through adolescence.
• Assess physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational and developmental needs.
• Review histories, diagnostics and labs; report abnormal results.
• Formulate and revise individualized care plans, including discharge planning.
• Coordinate and supervise care with healthcare team; document care.
• Evaluate patient/family responses and progress toward goals.
• Document assessments, plans, interventions and outcomes.
• Engage in evidence-based practice and contribute to quality indicators.

Job description

• Provide medical care to children from birth through late teens in a 40+ bed pediatric unit
• Assess patients' physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge-planning needs
• Review patient history, diagnostics and laboratory data, and report abnormal results to physicians and caregivers
• Formulate, initiate, review and revise individualized plans of care, including discharge plans
• Implement care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the healthcare team
• Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching and assess progress toward goals
• Document assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in patient records
• Provide evidence-based care and participate in research, shared leadership, education, orientation, precepting and mentoring
• Contribute to nursing quality indicators and patient outcomes
• Interact with staff, physicians, patients, families, external healthcare contacts and clergy regarding patient care
• Work with pediatric conditions including Orthopedics, Surgical, Gastrointestinal, Neurological, Endocrinology, Oncology and general pediatrics

Requirements

• Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice
• BLS certification is required
• Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice
• Experience in the clinical area for which he or she is applying is desired
• Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area in which they work as demonstrated through annual validations
• Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting
• Acute care experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Professional certification preferred
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred
• Completion of post-offer Occupational Health physical assessment, drug screen and background check is required
• Qualified candidates must have RN Pediatric experience
