Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Hinsdale, IL is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive patient care on a full-time basis. The role includes 36 hours per week with a day shift and rotating weekends/holidays, offering opportunities for salary increases through the Clinical Ladder Program based on experience and achievement.

You will ensure safe medication administration, effective handoffs, comprehensive documentation, and collaboration with the care team to deliver whole-person

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Associate's degree in Nursing is required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Educates patients and families on health conditions and care plans.
  • Ensures safe handoff communication and documentation.
  • Promotes patient safety and a positive experience through teamwork and communication.
  • Maintains compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.

Job Description
  • Starting Pay at $36/hr
  • Schedule: 36 hours/week; 6:45am - 7:15pm, w/rotating weekends and holidays
  • Grow with us. Eligible clinicians have the opportunity to earn salary increases of up to 20%* through our Clinical Ladder Program based on experience, professional development, and achievement of advancement criteria. Clinical Ladder participation is voluntary. Salary adjustments are determined by program eligibility, advancement level, and organizational guidelines.
  • Ensure appropriate use and stewardship of medical supplies and equipment to support patient safety and operational efficiency.
  • Ensures safe and effective handoff communication and documentation.
  • Follows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand hygiene according to policy and enforces safety regulations.
  • Promotes a positive patient experience by demonstrating caring behaviors, maintaining clear communication, and collaborating with the care team to provide safe, timely, and effective whole-person care.

  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills appropriate to patient's level of care
  • Collects and documents patient health data systematically and timely.
  • Conducts thorough, ongoing assessments of patients, analyzes assessment data and develops individualized, evidenced based plans of care Implements interventions from the plan of care timely, safely, and appropriately, documenting actions taken.
  • Collaborates and promotes timely patient placement by following hospital policy for patient admission, discharge, and transfer.
  • Participates in peer interviewing as needed.
  • Administers medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and staff, maintaining professional relationships and promoting a positive environment.
  • Educates patients and families on health conditions, procedures, and care plans, ensuring understanding and compliance based on assessed needs.
  • Maintains compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies ensuring legal and ethical practice.
  • Participates in initiatives related to quality, safety, effectiveness, efficiency, and impact on practice in the delivery of nursing services.
  • Serves as a patient advocate, ensuring patient rights and needs are respected and addressed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Associate's of Nursing [Required]
