Job summary

SoftPath Medical seeks an experienced Mixed Acuity Unit Nurse for PCU, MS Telemetry, and MS patients in the New York area. Must have PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years and a minimum of 1 year of nursing practice. Traveler acceptance is noted; local candidates must reside more than 50 miles away. Scrubs must be solid color.

Unit features include 1:3–5 day/ weekend ratios, 1:3–7 nights, and 12-hour shift orientation. Floating to sister units is required as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in PCU/IMC or equivalent.
• Traveler candidates welcome; local candidates not accepted (reside >50 miles).
• Scrubs: any solid color.

Responsibilities

• Care for PCU/MS Telemetry and MS patients with varied acuity.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and monitor cardiac drips.
• Float as needed and participate in unit orientation with 12-hour shifts.

Mixed Acuity Unit Nurse - PCU, MS Telemetry, and MS Patients

Experience Requirements

Must have PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years. Patient-to-nurse ratios are adjusted based on acuity.

Clinical Skills

• MS/Telemetry, Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown care
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Post-myocardial infarction care
• IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
• Feeding tube care and management
• Continuous bladder irrigation
• Renal failure management
• Accessing ports and blood product administration
• Central line care and management
• Phlebotomy and peripheral line care/management
• PICC line management and IV starts
• Heparin protocols
• Management of cardiac drips without titration
• PCA and thrombolytic agents
• Titration of cardiac drips
• CVA, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal care
• Orthopedic trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, and traction

Job Details

• Ratios: 1:3-5 for days and weekends; 1:3-7 for nights
• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
• Float Requirement: Yes
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Units: May be floated to sister units including West 2, West 3, and Observation unit

Patient Diagnoses

Patients include PCU and MS Telemetry, surgical pre- and post-operative cases such as ENT, general surgery, trauma surgery, and orthopedic surgery. Also includes overflow medical diagnosis patients. Rare pediatric patients may be assigned only if experienced.

Special Procedures and Unit Details

TCAR experience preferred

Special Equipment

Mixed acuity unit caring for PCU, MS Telemetry, and MS patients; PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years is required. Ratios are adjusted based on patient acuity.

Unit Systems

Medication, documentation, and communication systems include EPIC, Pyxis, and SBAR.

Unit Orientation

Orientation consists of 12-hour shifts.
