Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Role Summary

In this role, you will provide expert care for patients who require more intensive monitoring than a standard medical‑surgical floor but do not yet need ICU intervention. Utilizing the nursing process, you will lead the interdisciplinary team in managing biophysical and psychosocial needs, ensuring patient autonomy and dignity are always at the forefront. Key Duties
  • Advanced Patient Monitoring: Utilize the nursing process to provide age‑specific care, prioritizing interventions for patients with complex medical needs.
  • Clinical Excellence: Administer blood and blood products according to policy; adhere to rigorous infection control and Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Advocacy & Ethics: Promote shared decision‑making and informed consent, respecting patient autonomy regardless of background or identity.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Act as a Charge Nurse as assigned; delegate activities to ancillary staff in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Professional Growth: Actively participate in the Professional Nursing Practice Model and Performance Improvement initiatives to advance the Magnet model.
  • Care Coordination: Manage all aspects of patient care from admission through discharge planning, integrating nursing ethics into every interaction.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Licensure: Current New York State RN license/registration.
  • Certifications: Current BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association) required.
  • Clinical Skills: Knowledge of current nursing and medical trends; ability to perform in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity setting.
  • Experience: One year of acute care nursing experience is preferred for PCU/Step‑down areas.
Desired Qualifications
  • Leadership: Prior experience in a leadership or Charge Nurse capacity.
  • Specialty Commitment: Interest in pursuing ongoing specialty certifications or continuing education to support high‑standard patient care.
Location and Work Type

Location: White Plains, NY area

Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:15 AM

Schedule: Rotating shifts Sunday through Saturday, including alternating weekends and holidays.
