SoftPath Medical is seeking a skilled RN for a 5S Trauma Stepdown unit assignment in West Virginia. The role supports care for multi-system trauma and surgical patients on a 25-bed unit with a six-bed step-down. Shift options include 3x12 or 4x12 nights, with every-other-weekend requirements.

Ideal candidates have trauma, IMC/PCU, or SDU experience, with 2+ years of RN practice and WV or Compact-state licensure. Expect travel within ~100 miles and potential float within scope of duties.

5S Trauma Stepdown (IMC/PCU) RN

Shift

3x12 or 4x12 NIGHTS 7P-7A, weekdays, every other weekend, float

• Manager may call traveler off once per two-week pay period if necessary
• Please limit holiday RTO requests to no more than one of the three major holidays

Unit Details

25 Floor Beds, 6 Step-Down Beds, 6 Pediatric Beds.

A multidisciplinary team provides nursing care to multi-system-injured trauma and surgical patients.

The six-bed intermediate care stepdown unit offers an intermediate level of care.

Ideal candidates have experience in PCU, IMC, Trauma, or SDU.

Travelers are not required to care for pediatric patients.

It is possible the unit may use a traveler for floor beds only—this will be discussed during the interview.

Ratios

• Floor RN: 1:5
• Step-Down Unit RN: 1:3

Orientation and Start Dates

Held every other week on Thursday

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years RN experience; 1 year in specialty required

• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, Fit Test, CPI (CPI can be completed through Qualivis), TNCC preferred
• Skills: IV start, ventilators, telemetry, Level 1 trauma experience, conscious sedation
• Clinicians may be floated within scope to meet facility needs
• Open to accommodating blocked schedule requests
• 100-mile radius rule (75-99 miles may be approved by facility)
• RN license required from WV or Compact states; pending RN licenses may be submitted
• 36 hours guaranteed

Permanent employees cannot return as travelers for 2 years after last permanent day worked

Flu shot required unless medically exempt with documentation; flu season is October 1 through March 31 (not required outside this period)

COVID-19 vaccine not required

All candidates must complete a fit test in advance using approved masks

Candidate’s agency is responsible for coordinating and scheduling the fit test, exploring all options

Candidates may need to travel up to 100 miles to complete the fit test
