Job summary

Mary Washington Hospital is seeking a Level II Competent Registered Nurse who is clinically able to care for patients and collaborate with the care team to improve quality. The RN is responsible for comprehensive, patient-centered care using the nursing process.

The role includes directing nursing care, coordinating patient/family involvement, communicating plans, contributing to improvement initiatives, and supporting orientation of new staff.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Valid RN License from Virginia.
• BSN is preferred.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• NIHSS (Bluecloud) required at hire.
• 2 years of recent RN acute care experience.
• Additional certifications per unit.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate nursing care with interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Coordinate patient/family involvement and discharge planning.
• Communicate plan of care with health team members.
• Assist leadership to define standards of excellence.
• Participate in performance improvement activities.
• Participate in orientation of new staff.
• Act as point of contact on policies and procedures.
• Support daily operational activities for safety.
• Provide input to Nurse Manager on unit needs.
• Participate in committees for policy development.
• Provide comprehensive assessment and care plans.
• Educate patients and caregivers about the plan of care.
• Act as case manager when assigned.
