Job summary

Overland Park Regional Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Registered Nurse PAT to influence patient care through open collaboration with management and participation in hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You will help shape decisions that elevate patient outcomes and advance the future of nursing.

• Graduate of school of nursing required.
• Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or hold an active compact license.
• Excellent interpersonal skills required. Ability to achieve and maintain BCLS and PALS.
• Previous clinical experience in area of specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients.
• Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes in patient condition along with the care provided thoroughly.
• Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures.

What you will do in this role

• Under the general direction of the Director or Manager, coordinates and provides patient care and assumes individual responsibility and accountability for the provision of nursing care. Nursing care is provided in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, applicable state Nursing Practice Acts, ANA Standards of Practice, and the generic and unit structure standards. The Registered Nurse in 786 PAT provides care for birth to pediatric (birth-2 yrs.), pediatric/child patients between (2 yrs-12 yrs); adolescent patients between 12 to 18 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older.

Qualifications you will need

• Graduate of school of nursing required.
