Job summary

Pain Specialists of America, a Texas-based multisite pain management company, seeks a Registered Nurse to support its centers and ensure high-quality patient care.

The RN will follow physician orders, manage post-anesthesia care, and participate in ongoing patient assessment and documentation while maintaining confidentiality and adherence to center policies.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current registration with the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Evidence of current BLS certification.
  • Evidence of current ACLS certification; or certification within six months of hire.
  • One (1) year of previous nursing experience in hospital or ASC setting.

Responsibilities

  • Follows physician orders and provides focused patient care.
  • Promotes accurate recording of medications and treatments given to patients.
  • Perioperative nursing with post-anesthesia assessment and vital data collection.
  • Continuously measures patient progress and revises Care Plan and interventions as necessary.
  • Reports significant observations to physician/anesthesiologist and/or CRNA.
  • MaintainsCenter policies, procedures and confidentiality; assists in orientation of new staff.

Description

Pain Specialists of America ("PSA") is a Texas-based, multisite comprehensive pain management company that includes over 15 locations. We are seeking talented professionals who can support the business and help it achieve its strategic objectives.

The Registered Nurse will perform a variety of duties to ensure that quality nursing care is provided in maintaining an atmosphere that allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of patients.

Detailed Responsibilities
  • Ensures that physician orders are followed for all patients
  • Applies knowledge, skill and judgment to provide excellent and focused patient care
  • Promotes and participates in providing accurate recording of medications and treatments given to patients
  • Post-anesthesia nursing practice includes systematic continuous assessment of the patient’s condition, and collection, documentation, and communication of vital data
  • Continuously measures patient progress toward designated outcomes and revises Care Plan and interventions as necessary
  • Reports significant observations and information to the physician, anesthesiologist and/or CRNA
  • Assesses the patient response immediately post operatively; reports pertinent information; performs appropriate interventions and evaluates patient response
  • Promotes the improvement of nursing care within the Center
  • Conforms to and promotes acceptance of established objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Assists in maintaining a stock of supplies and equipment for the Center, and promotes proper utilization of all
  • Maintains Center drugs and reorders as needed; observes for outdated stock and follows proper disposal procedures; maintains emergency cart, equipment and medications
  • Evaluates the performance of assigned co-workers, reporting process or need for improvement to the Administrator
  • Follows the chain of command, communicating reportable situations to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner
  • Maintains confidentiality of management information, displays discretion and good judgment in communication methods
  • Adheres to all approved Center policies and procedures; notifies supervisor of any deviation from approved policy
  • Assists in the orientation of new employees to the Center
  • Displays ability to accept counseling from direct supervisor in a positive manner
  • Displays ability to and desire to initiate corrective action
  • Becomes familiar with Center’s Fire, Safety, and Disaster Plan, and his/her role in the event of each
  • Displays cost-effectiveness in materials management; assumes responsibility for timely verification of supplies used in Center

Requirements

Education and Experience/Technical Skills
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Current registration with the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners
  • Evidence of current BLS certification
  • Evidence of current ACLS certification; or certification within six months of hire
  • One (1) year of previous nursing experience in hospital or ASC setting
Other Position Requirements
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, notifies supervisor if unable to report to work
  • Punctual in arriving for duty on assigned days
  • Follow facility and regulatory policies and procedures
  • Respect patient cultural and religious beliefs
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds.

  • Fine motor skills
  • Visual acuity
