Job summary

Mercy Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the ICU Stepdown unit. This part-time position offers 24 hours weekly with day and night shifts, focusing on high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg levels.

Ideal candidates will hold a Missouri RN license (or compact) with BLS, and preferably have ACLS/NIHSS/PCCN certifications. Mercy provides comprehensive benefits and strong career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• BSN preferred.
• Current Missouri RN license or compact license.
• BLS required; ACLS, NIHSS, PCCN, or other Stepdown-related certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg level.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using evidence-based practices.
• Perform accurate hand-offs and bedside shift reporting to maintain patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, monitor complex conditions (cardiac, respiratory, post-ICU), and support recovery.
• Participate in huddles, shared governance activities, and unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
