Job summary

St. Mary’s Medical Center is seeking an Outpatient Wound Care RN to join our team in Blue Springs, MO. The role focuses on assessing and treating skin breakdown and wounds in a clinic setting, with collaboration during hospital stays for ostomy and wound care.

A goal is to determine the proper treatment plan and coordinate community resources for ongoing care. The ideal candidate will have Wound Care knowledge or related experience, MO RN licensure, and BLS.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Missouri
• BLS at hire and maintained
• Wound care knowledge or experience preferred (1 year)

Responsibilities

• Assess and document wound conditions and evaluate treatments
• Apply dressings and treatments with proper technique
• Provide inpatient and outpatient wound ostomy care and hyperbaric care
• Educate patients and families on wound care, ostomies, and continence
• Track healing progress, modify care plans, ensure follow-up and support after discharge
• Implement infection control measures and educate staff on wound care protocols
• Stay updated on wound care techniques, products and research

Hours : 8hr – 8:00am to 5:00pm
Location: St Mary's Medical Center – Blue Springs, MO

We are seeking an Outpatient Wound Care RN , which is also referred to as a W ound C are, O stomy, or C ontinence N urse (WOC) . The Wound Care RN will specialize in assessing and treating skin breakdown and wounds in a clinic setting. As a Wound Care Nurse, you will also be consulted during a patients stay in a hospital for a wound or pressure injury, we are also consulted for ostomy care. The Wound Care RN will also be responsible for determining the proper course of treatment and interacting with services in the community to continually care for the wound care patient .

Responsibilities

** If you have experience in Wound Care, ICU, ER, Critical Care, Telemetry or Advanced Med Surg you are encouraged to apply! **

• A ssess and document the condition of patients' wounds and evaluate the effectiveness of wound treatments
• A pply dressings and treatments to wounds, ensuring proper techniques to promote healing and prevent infection
• P rovide comprehensive patient care, including both inpatient and outpatient wound ostomy and hyperbaric treatment
• E ducate patients and their families about wound care techniques and prevention strategies, teach proper care for ostomies and how to manage continence issues
• R egularly track the progress of wound healing, modify care plans as needed, ensure follow-up care, and support post-discharge, and provide emotional support to patients managing chronic wounds or ostomies
• I mplement infection control measures to prevent the spread of infections within the hospital, educate staff on proper wound care protocols and internal policies when needed
• S tay up to date on the latest wound care techniques, products, and research; participate in continuing education and professional development activities

Qualifications

• Must have current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the state
• BLS upon hire and maintain current
• Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred
• Previous Wound care knowledge and or experience preferred (1 Year)
• Wound Care Certification within first year of hire
• Wound, Ostomy, Continence (WOC) or (WCC) Board Certification preferred
