St Mary's Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO is seeking an Inpatient Wound Care RN (WOC/WCC) for per diem/PRN work in a hospital setting. The role focuses on assessing and treating skin breakdown and wounds, including ostomy care, with involvement in patient stays and post-discharge planning.

The Wound Care RN will educate patients and families on wound care, manage ostomies, collaborate with hospital services, and stay current with the latest wound care techniques and protocols. Shift: Days.

Qualifications

• Acute care hospital experience preferred

• Wound, Ostomy, Continence (WOC) or (WCC) board certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Assess and document wound conditions and evaluate treatment effectiveness
• Apply dressings and treatments per protocol to promote healing and prevent infection
• Provide inpatient and outpatient wound ostomy care

Hours: 8hr – 8:00am to 5:00pm

Location: St Mary's Medical Center - Blue Springs, MO

We are seeking an Inpatient Wound Care RN, which is also referred to as a Wound Care, Ostomy, or Continence Nurse (WOC) . The Wound Care RN will specialize in assessing and treating skin breakdown and wounds in a clinic setting. As a Wound Care Nurse, you will also be consulted during a patients stay in a hospital for a wound or pressure injury, we are also consulted for ostomy care. The Wound Care RN will also be responsible for determining the proper course of treatment and interacting with services in the community to continually care for the wound care patient .

Responsibilities

• Assess and document the condition of patients' wounds and evaluate the effectiveness of wound treatments
• Apply dressings and treatments to wounds, ensuring proper techniques to promote healing and prevent infection
• Provide comprehensive patient care, including both inpatient and outpatient wound ostomy and hyperbaric treatment
• Educate patients and their families about wound care techniques and prevention strategies, teach proper care for ostomies and how to manage continence issues
• Regularly track the progress of wound healing, modify care plans as needed, ensure follow-up care, and support post-discharge, and provide emotional support to patients managing chronic wounds or ostomies
• Implement infection control measures to prevent the spread of infections within the hospital, educate staff on proper wound care protocols and internal policies when needed
• Stay up to date on the latest wound care techniques, products, and research; participate in continuing education and professional development activities

Qualifications

• Must have current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the state
• BLS upon hire and maintain current
• Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred
• Previous Wound care knowledge and or experience preferred (1 Year)
• Wound Care Certification within first year of hire
• Wound, Ostomy, Continence (WOC) or (WCC) Board Certification preferred
