The successful candidate:

1. Ensures patient safety and comfort while assisting physicians during operative procedures in the operating and endoscopy suites.
2. Provides pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative nursing care efficiently and calmly.
3. Implements physician’s orders accurately and promptly.
4. Performs scrubbing (if trained), circulating, records all cases, and assists with patient recovery.
5. Ensures accurate handoff to recovery area.
6. Verifies correct sponge, tape, needle, and instrument counts with nursing staff.
7. Applies knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative techniques relevant to procedures.
8. Works Monday to Friday, 6:45 am to 3:15 pm, with call responsibilities one weekend every six weeks and one weekday.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

1. Graduation from an NLNAC or CCNE-accredited School of Nursing and licensure in Illinois.
2. 1-2 years of acute care and Operating Room experience.
3. BLS certification maintained throughout employment.
4. ACLS certification as appropriate for the patient population.
5. OCN certification within 18 months of hire or 36 CE credits in Oncology every three years, with 12 CE credits annually (Surgical Services exempt).
