Responsibilities

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8, 10 or 12 hour day shifts as needed between 6:45am and 7:15pm. Occasional overtime and on-call rotation, including weekend call required, with minimal call-back. No Weekends, Nights, or Holidays, unless on-call.

Job Specific Position Duties:

This position will support the Operating Room. Core duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides professional nursing care to patients undergoing surgery. Prepares and maintains operating room for all surgical procedures. Establishes and utilizes a checklist to monitor the operating room and equipment for safety.
  • Assembles the type and quantity of material and special equipment needed for daily procedures and emergencies. Circulates for surgical procedures and responds to surgical emergencies.
  • Maintains open communication lines to provide for total needs of the patient. Conducts preoperative and postoperative visits.
  • Coordinates with other hospital units on patients’ progress and necessary equipment or supplies.
  • Directs and instructs personnel in preparing, sterilizing, and caring for operating room equipment and supplies.
  • Completes assigned patient care based on patients’ conditions and recognizes, reports, and records relevant patient information.
  • Provides perioperative nursing care for all types of patients admitted to the surgical suite.
  • Participates in quality and process improvement activities to ensure compliance with national standards.
  • Knowledge of various pharmacological agents and proper documentation of patient’s condition.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel.
  • Ensures a safe work environment and compliance with infection control policies.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree/Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Experience: A minimum of 12 months of experience in operating room assignments.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse from any state.
  • Life Support Certification: BLS/ACLS/PALS from American Red Cross or American Health Association.
  • Security: Must pass a Government background check/security clearance.
