Job summary

Compass Surgical Partners seeks an Operating Room Registered Nurse for St. Francis Ambulatory Surgery Center in Midlothian, VA. The RN provides direct perioperative care, supports surgeons and anesthesia, and ensures patient safety and comfort throughout procedures.

Monday–Friday, no nights or weekends, with opportunities for professional growth. You will circulate, maintain a sterile environment, assess patient needs, and collaborate with the team.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent; one year of OR experience required.
• Current RN license (VA)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Strong teamwork, organization, and communication skills
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Windows environment)

Responsibilities

• Serve as circulating nurse, supporting patients, surgeons, and anesthesia staff during procedures
• Prepare and maintain a safe, sterile, and efficient operating environment
• Accurately assess patient needs, provide reassurance, and involve families in care decisions when appropriate
• Collaborate with the surgical team and communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and colleagues
• Support patient safety, risk management, and quality improvement initiatives
• Participate in staff education, orientation, and professional development
• Organize and manage supplies, equipment, and staff for effective case management

St. Francis Ambulatory Surgery Center is an ASC located in Midlothian, VA. With two operating rooms and one procedure room, the center will provide high-quality, cost-effective outpatient surgical care across multiple specialties.

Owned and operated in partnership with BSMH and Compass Surgical Partners (an ASC management organization), the center will combine advanced technology with compassionate, patient-centered care in a convenient outpatient setting.

Targeting Hire date of 1/4/2027

Role Summary

The Operating Room RN provides direct patient care and serves as a patient advocate in the operating room. This role supports surgeons and anesthesia providers, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout the perioperative process.

Hours

• Monday–Friday schedule
• No nights, weekends, holidays, or call

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, and lifting
• Occasional stooping, kneeling, or climbing
• Regular interaction with patients of all ages in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs (occasionally up to 100 lbs) and meet physical demands of the role
