Job summary

Compass Surgical Partners is seeking a Central Processing Sterile Technician at St. Francis Ambulatory Surgery Center in Midlothian, VA. You will clean, sterilize, assemble, and store surgical instruments to ensure the operating team has safe tools for patient care.

The role supports perioperative safety and quality initiatives. Hours are PRN, Monday–Friday, with no nights, weekends, holidays, or call. Requires high school diploma or GED; sterile processing experience preferred; CBSPD

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in sterile processing preferred.
• CBSPD certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire if required)
• Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Clean, inspect, sterilize, and package instruments and equipment according to standards.
• Assemble instrument trays and maintain accurate labeling and storage.
• Operate sterilizers, washers, and related equipment safely and effectively.
• Monitor and maintain sterile supply inventory; check for outdated or compromised items.
• Support patient safety, infection prevention, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with teammates, physicians, and other staff.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and compliant sterile processing work area.

St. Francis Ambulatory Surgery Center is an ASC located in Midlothian, VA. With two operating rooms and one procedure room, the center will provide high-quality, cost-effective outpatient surgical care across multiple specialties.

Owned and operated in partnership with BSMH and Compass Surgical Partners (an ASC management organization), the center will combine advanced technology with compassionate, patient-centered care in a convenient outpatient setting.

Targeting Hire date of 1/4/2027

Role Summary

The Central Processing Sterile Technician is responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, assembling, and storing surgical instruments and equipment. This role ensures the operating team has the tools needed for safe, effective patient care, directly supporting the perioperative process and overall patient safety.

Hours

What You’ll Do

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, and lifting

• Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, and sterilization equipment in a fast-paced environment
