A leading healthcare company is seeking an Operating Room Registered Nurse in Plattsburgh, NY. This role involves direct patient care for surgical procedures, requiring a valid RN license and BLS/ACLS certification. GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Operating Room Registered Nurse is responsible for managing and delivering patient care using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients undergoing surgical procedures. The OR RN directs and guides patient care, education, and related activities while maintaining professional nursing standards. They possess skills and knowledge to assess, diagnose, plan, intervene, and evaluate outcomes. They are familiar with all instruments, supplies, and equipment used during specific surgeries. The OR RN addresses the physiological, psychological, socio-cultural, and spiritual responses of surgical patients.
The Perioperative Services Float RN will become competent in two areas of Perioperative Services: Operating Room Circulating Nurse, Pre/Post Nurse, or Endoscopy Nurse. The primary position will be based on the nurse's P5, and scheduling will be in that main area (e.g., Perioperative Services Float - Pre/PACU will only be scheduled in Pre/PACU).
The Float RN will be fully oriented to their main position and will learn basic skills in another area of Perioperative Services. The skill set for each additional area will follow the specific contributions of that position. All nurses in Perioperative Services are expected to be competent in the basic skills of a second area within six months of completing their main orientation.
